About Duluth
Gwinnett’s third largest city, Duluth is the place to truly capture the spirit of good living.
“Despite phenomenal growth, Duluth has retained its small-town character.”
Duluth has sidewalks and bike-ways that connect many areas of the city, with greenspace and parks for recreation and relaxation. Festivals and events such as the Duluth Fall Festival are hallmarks of the Duluth Town Green, where concerts, dining, entertainment and shopping come together.
Duluth is recognized as a model city for Gwinnett County. With a perfect blend of small businesses, entrepreneurial enterprise, major corporations and visionary developers, Duluth has the charm of its historic downtown, as well as a reputation as a strong residential and corporate home. Despite phenomenal growth, it has retained its small-town character, where personal camaraderie, spirited by annual holiday and festive events, is savored.
From a recent article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “While Atlanta is possessed of any number of postcard-perfect town squares, one suburban downtown that has been wholly transformed in recent years is Duluth. In particular, the Parsons Alley development, a warren of shops, restaurants and public spaces at the corner of Main and West Lawrenceville streets, is a culinary destination in its own right.”
You can find just about any type of cuisine you’re craving in the alley. Grab a slice of pizza from award-winning O4W. If you’re looking for an oyster bar, Noona is the spot for you. Be sure to grab yourself some sweets from Simply Done Donuts or The Chocolaterie. Other great bars and restaurants to check out include Epicurean Cafe, Maple Street Biscuit Company, Dreamland BBQ, Four Forks, Madcap’s and Pure Taqueria. Keep an eye out for new restaurants opening this year, like Nacho Daddy.
No small town is complete without the perfect pub, and you’ll find that at the areas first taproom, Good Word Brew Pub. They’re serving up unique house-made beer, as well as some delicious dishes.
The arts are thriving in Duluth, with a multitude of experiences in its Downtown District including the Red Clay Music Foundry, featuring Eddie Owen Presents. The city is home to the Duluth Fine Arts League (DFAL), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, serving citizens, artists and those who love the arts. Governed by a volunteer board of directors, DFAL is committed to encouraging individual and corporate participation in the performing, musical, literary, and visual arts. Duluth is also home to the Southeastern Railway Museum.
Duluth was recently named as a “Top 10 City for Best American Values” by NewsMax magazine and one of the “Best Affordable Suburbs in America” by Bloomberg Businessweek magazine.
